The new HRT PPC<\/h3><\/span>

The new HRT PPC is now available to women who pay for HRT in England. This became available on the 1st April.<\/p>\n

Each prescription item normally costs \u00a39.65 , but for a one off payment of \u00a319.30, this will cover unlimited prescriptions for a 12 month period.<\/p>\n

However, this does not cover all HRT medications.<\/h5>\n

For example- Testosterone therapy which is recommended for symptoms of low libido, when HRT alone is not helping, is not covered. This is an unlicensed use of a drug that was licensed for men, although common and accepted practice.<\/p>\n

The reason given as to why not all HRT is covered is that the HRT PPC will only cover medicines that are licensed to treat the menopause in the UK.<\/p>\n
